BERLIN (AP) — Jesse Marsch won the main Bundesliga duel between groups with American mentors by driving Leipzig to a 4-0 success over Pellegrino Matarazzo’s Stuttgart on Friday.

Just as giving Marsch brief boasting rights over his countryman, the success offered reparations for Leipzig’s shock 1-0 misfortune at Covid hit Mainz in the mentor’s German class debut in the opening round.

“It was a super response after our loss last week in Mainz,” Marsch said in German. “All along, we were clear, exact and great. We needed to be exceptionally escalated, extremely forceful against the ball, with the ball. It was actually an extraordinary execution from us.”

Marsch’s group had been undermining more than Matarazzo’s and it was nothing unexpected when Dominik Szoboszlai at last made the forward leap in the 38th moment. The Hungarian forward let fly from a troublesome point inside the far post for his first Bundesliga objective. Szoboszlai had shown up at Leipzig in January yet missed a large portion of a season because of injury. The 20-year-old Szoboszlai scored on his presentation in the German Cup this month.

Emil Forsberg made it 2-0 seconds after the stretch when André Silva laid the ball off with his heel for the Sweden midfielder to complete past Florian Müller in the Stuttgart objective.
